In this video we show how to produce series plots with PROC SGPLOT. A series plot displays the values of a variable Y versus time or some other variable X, with consecutive points connected with line segments. Series plots are standard tools to display time series and longitudinal/panel data, and can be useful in other situations where X is not necessarily time. Here we show how to produce a simple series plot and to plot two series that have different scales on the same plot by plotting them against the left and right axes, respectively. We also demonstrate how to add a reference line and to change the axis limits. Finally, we show how to use the GROUP= option to plot multiple profiles over time on the same plot and how to produce a paneled series plot showing multiple profiles over time in each of several treatment groups. The paneled plot is produced with PROC SGPANEL, so this video provides an introduction to that procedure.
