In this video we illustrate how to conduct paired, one-sample, and two-sample t tests in R. These tests are implemented in the t.test() function. We illustrate the tests with examples that are familiar from the SAS portion of the course (the FEV data and the pizza data) as well as a new example involving body temperature measurements taken on healthy adult men and women. You should open Mod13Script.R in RStudio and follow along with Example 2 from that script while watching this video.
We have used the t.test() function in a previous module (Module 11) and in homework, so it should not be entirely new to you. However, this video devotes more attention to it than we have in the past and illustrates a broader range of its capabilities. Because this function is fairly straight-forward to learn, and because you have seen it before, you may choose to skip this video. But I encourage you to watch it; it demonstrates some useful techniques that we have not covered previously.
