In this video we demonstrate how to use the MERGE statement to perform a many-to-one merge. Three examples are given to demonstrate this programming task. Sometimes a data set with just one observation must be merged with a data set containing multiple observations. In that case, if no suitable BY variable exists, we can either add a BY variable to each data set or use a trick involving the SET statement to merge the data sets. This technique is illustrated in the final example in the video, which involves standardizing car prices form the 1993 Consumer Reports Cars data set.
