In this video we illustrate how to use the OUTPUT statement within a DO loop to generate data from scratch. This technique can be used for a variety of purposes including simulating data from a known statistical model. In the example featured here, however, we something a bit simpler: we generate variables corresponding to the factors in a two-way layout. We also show how to generate a (pseudo-)random variate from a uniform distribution and sort by that variable in order to perform a randomization.
